Since inception in 1971 as the first emergency animal clinic in San Diego County the VCA Emergency Animal Hospital & Referral Center has served the veterinarians and pet owners of San Diego County with distinction. Our emergency and critical care department is staffed 24/7 with dedicated, experienced, long term clinicians. Specialists see cases by appointment Monday through Saturday.
We are dedicated to teaching with our Internship Program, which started in 1996 and provides excellent learning opportunities for 8 interns. Our Interns work alongside staff veterinarians on all services and are not utilized as sole duty doctors on any shift ensuring excellence in both their training and our patient’s care.
